🏃‍♂️ Walk, Jog, or Run: Your Faith Journey, Your Pace

Hey Reader,

Recently, I started training on a treadmill that offers pre-recorded exercise programs. It's kind of like Peloton.

One feature that surprised me was the option to choose your pace. For each workout, I set my own personal baseline pace. Then, as the workout progresses, it adjusts the treadmill's speed to account for my fitness level. Of course, if it's going too slow or fast, I can adjust the speed to be exactly right.

As I designed The Uncommon Pursuit Academy, I wanted it to be a program that's flexible and adaptable for you.

As long as you're a wholehearted Christian - sincere about growing your faith - I wanted to offer something from new Christians to seasoned saints.

Here's how it works:

Walking:

The easiest, safest, most convenient option is to read the lessons.

Each of the eleven courses organizes, summarizes, and distills an enormous amount of reading into a clear, logical, structured pathway for spiritual growth.

There's no pressure or accountability to do anything more than this. You can get significant benefits from the Academy just by signing up and reading through the 300+ lessons at your own pace.

Jogging:

The next step up in effort - and results - is to discuss the lessons with a friend.

Sign up with your spouse, roommate, or small group... and boom, you have unlimited access to a curriculum for a weekly conversation about God for the next few years.

Nearly every lesson comes with a prompt for reflection or discussion, so it's convenient to transition from reading the content to talking about it.

Since you already know each other, this is a relaxed and meaningful way to deepen your spiritual journey.

Running:

Discussing the lessons with the global online community requires a higher level of intensity - and better outcomes.

If you already participate in online communities, this might feel like walking or jogging.

But if the idea of sharing your faith in God with new friends is intimidating, you couldn't ask for a friendlier, more supportive environment to start.

When I take the effort to not only passively learn from someone else but actively explain what I've learned to someone else, two things happen: I understand the material at a completely different level, and someone else gets the benefit of these insights. I call it the "Teach to Know, Share to Grow" principle).

Over and over again, I find that the community's discussion can be more helpful than the original prompt.

Sometimes, we think only "experts" should talk about God. But that mindset is holding us back from becoming mature in our faith.

Imagine how much more prepared you would be to discuss your faith in everyday life if you had already participated in two hundred conversations about what you believe with other Uncommon Pursuit Community Partners...

So... do you want to walk, jog, or run?

Whatever pace works best for you, The Academy is designed to help you take the next step.

I hope to connect with you soon!

gratefully,

Carson

What do the strongest, healthiest, and even happiest disciples of Jesus have in common with each other? Go ahead, take your best guess. Seriously, think about it. Write your answer down. If you just keep reading to get the answer, you'll miss out. ... ... Did you write your answer down yet? ... ... Ok, what did you say? They regularly read their Bibles? Or maybe you chose "an active prayer life"? Another good guess would be "goes to church every week." Hopefully you said, "They're an active...

Hi Reader, On Tuesday, I gathered with Uncommon Pursuit's Community Partners to discern how we would respond to God's love this year. To my delight, we felt prompted to focus on how God transforms us into Christlikeness This is particularly gratifying because I decided not to suggest any agenda items. Yet, what the group wanted to do is 100% aligned with the focus of my Major Project that I am working on for my Doctor of Ministry degree! So here's what it looks like... Drumroll, please......

Hey, On Friday, November 12, 2021, I launched Uncommon Pursuit with a mix of hope and hesitation. I was still recovering from the RZIM debacle, and I wondered: Can I invest my heart into loving and serving people again? It felt uncomfortable, but I knew it would be better to risk having my heart broken again than to give up on telling people about Jesus. Three years later, I'm amazed by what God has done through our community: 12,000+ posts on 1,700 different topics 6,000+ free copies of "12...
