Hey, On Friday, November 12, 2021, I launched Uncommon Pursuit with a mix of hope and hesitation. I was still recovering from the RZIM debacle, and I wondered: Can I invest my heart into loving and serving people again? It felt uncomfortable, but I knew it would be better to risk having my heart broken again than to give up on telling people about Jesus. Three years later, I'm amazed by what God has done through our community:
God is Changing LivesLet me share what this means for real people: Randy recently told me, "I'm so thankful for what God has done in my life this past year. Uncommon Pursuit is strongly committed to helping people become who God has purposed them to be." Randy started with our free book, got our emails, and joined the Academy. Later today, we're meeting to get to know each other better. Don, a small group leader, writes: "I lead a small group of Christians in Bible studies...12 Steps to God is an aid to our normal studies. We have a very positive response to this book." I've heard from other small group leaders that this book has helped their group develop a new level of openness with God and each other. Why This Matters More Than EverFinding a solid biblical church is becoming more challenging in our increasingly divided and secular world. I regularly hear from Christians who've searched exhaustively for a good local church—and can't find one in their area. But they still need a space to connect with fellow disciples, study the Bible, and deepen their love for Jesus. Uncommon Pursuit provides a community where people can get equipped, share honest prayer requests, and grow alongside other disciples. What if one day, some of our Community Partners launch a local church with our prayers and encouragement? The Limitations We’re FacingCurrently, I'm wearing all the hats in this ministry:
While I'm grateful to serve in every way needed, running everything limits our impact. Each hour spent on technical issues is an hour I can't spend mentoring someone through a faith crisis. How Your Support Can Multiply Our ImpactWith consistent monthly support, we could immediately:
This means:
Will You Partner With Us?Your monthly gift of $30 creates a sustainable foundation for our ministry. When we join together—giving $10, $20, or $30 monthly—it enables us to invest in building a ministry team that changes lives. We are a registered 501(c)(3) organization; all donations are tax-deductible.
Whether or not you can give, I'm grateful for the joy and honor of serving you. gratefully, Carson Executive Director, Uncommon Pursuit P.S. Your monthly partnership isn’t just about maintenance—it’s an investment in a ministry platform that multiplies our ability to help people find and follow Jesus. |

What do the strongest, healthiest, and even happiest disciples of Jesus have in common with each other? Go ahead, take your best guess. Seriously, think about it. Write your answer down. If you just keep reading to get the answer, you'll miss out. ... ... Did you write your answer down yet? ... ... Ok, what did you say? They regularly read their Bibles? Or maybe you chose "an active prayer life"? Another good guess would be "goes to church every week." Hopefully you said, "They're an active...
Hi Reader, On Tuesday, I gathered with Uncommon Pursuit's Community Partners to discern how we would respond to God's love this year. To my delight, we felt prompted to focus on how God transforms us into Christlikeness This is particularly gratifying because I decided not to suggest any agenda items. Yet, what the group wanted to do is 100% aligned with the focus of my Major Project that I am working on for my Doctor of Ministry degree! So here's what it looks like... Drumroll, please......
Hey, Have you ever tried to cram for Christmas? It's December 23rd and you realize you haven't really thought about what it means that God became a human being. Or, worse, you have, but it just seems like old news. Why do we have to pretend like Jesus being born is new information? Yea, I heard about the Christmas story before. About five dozen times. I've heard how it ends. I got it already. Here's what I've found. I have to intentionally choose to go the other direction. Instead of thinking...
